admiring brilliance

The Met
we loved it

I think I stared at the detail in this armor for twenty minutes, unbelievably beautiful
such love and passion carved from stone is truly divine

notice that the professor is nearly as tall as the armor and he is standing on the ground. Knights were little men

I fell in love with this painting but only saw it for a moment, does anyone know what it is?

for Jason this is what chairman Mao looks like, ya loon :) see his version here.

if only this was their room

I would be the happiest lady in the world
I found out about it here. But the lovely details are here.
Can we talk about my love of the lamps? Do you think I could make them?

most days

...when trying to get pictures of our girls together we get a lot of pictures that look like this
but sometimes I get pictures like this
maybe someday I can get pictures like hers.

central park

...was one of our very favorite spots
...we napped in the early afternoon
...under the yellow flowered trees
in the warm sun
no babies crawling all over our faces
we talked about our wedding day
what we were doing at that same time 5 years ago
about what we wanted to be doing 5 years from now
it makes my heart warm thinking about it now
I think we will do it again soon
but with babies crawling all over our faces

save the empire

Friday's first adventure was to the Empire State building. It was something I have tried to visit several times, I am so glad that the my first time to the top was with the man I love.
I am kind of in love with the Chrysler building. Isn't it just amazing.
If you ever go, spend the extra 8 bucks and rent the audio tour with Jimmy the Cabie (the red cord around my neck) We shared the speaker and loved learning about the city around us. It was very useful later on when we were making our way around the city to have a sense of which way was which.

the distrikt hotel

*the professor looking annoyed after realizing that I would be taking pictures of everything and everywhere and he would have to be in them

We loved our hotel. It was a steal of price (thank you travelzoo) two blocks from Times Square and I wanted to take all of the furniture home with me.

two houses and the boss

On our way to New York, the professor had the Brilliant idea to stop for cheese stakes in Philadelphia. Not knowing where to go we called up his good friend Curtis who served his mission in Philly. He said, "Oooh that sounds good", followed by, "Stick to the south side, wait in a long line and make sure their are lots of pictures of celebrities on the wall". We found two. Geno's line was four times as long and had neon flames going up along the sides of the building so we naturally went with them.
Not wanting to fall victims to better marketing, we crossed the street to try the competitors Pat's King.
There was no contest, sorry Pat, Geno's is king of the cheese stakes.

*Tony Danza had his picture up in both places... multiple times
...come to think of it Tony Danza had his picture up in every place we ate.

brooke vs the pear

needless to say Brooke won
that pear never even had a chance

photo of the week 20

The Professor and I took a stroll across for the Brooklyn Bridge to wait in the world's longest line for New York's finest pizza. Bellies full we waited on the pier for a water taxi in the warm sun. I found this pinwheel on the fence and snapped a few shots before leaving it to brighten someone else's day.

Brooks on a Plane!
She was amazing, she slept every flight (there were four in total) giggled and played and only spilled a whole cup of ice on my skirt once. Most of the other passengers never even knew she was on it.

senior year

When I was 18, I wanted my senior picture to be amazing. We were allowed to turn any photo of ourselves as long as they followed certain criteria, i.e. you needed to be able to see your face.
I did my best to oblige
I contacted Brooks and asked the underwater photography instructer for his best student. Not bad for $50 bucks plus the coast of film and development. I think his name was Ernie.

miss brooks has mad flexibility skills, even while sleeping

Simone!

Happy Birthday Darling!
We love you!
Thanks for the yummy cupcakes

well hello spring

it's really nice to see you

oscars

I love the Oscars because I love pretty dresses. This year had GOOD dresses.
This year was the first year without the Wright's Oscar party in which we all lost money to Bridgett who always won the pool.
This year because it's at 8:30 here on the east coast we went to the cousins house and put our babies to bed first. peace and quiet grownup time... except Simone who decided to watch the last hour with us in her pjs. We played Oscar bingo, which in my opinion is way more fun. Thank you to Robert Downy Jr. for wearing a colored bow-tie. (I won)
In my pitiful attempt to be fancy I tried making Oscar shaped cookies by stretching out a a gingerbread man shaped cookies. Unfortunately they looked more like bloated mummies, couldn't take a picture it was just too sad, Good thing they tasted good.
On to the dresses!

my favorite dress of the night, loved everything about it.

My least favorite dress. I felt like her ears were going to fall off do to the enormous weight of her earrings. The hem was ridiculous and that a toddler covered the bodice with a random bits of junk found on the floor of a crafts store.
I like the top, think the bottom is awkward but what really gets me is your complete lack of hairspray. frizzes everywhere.
Nicole Richie this is a mu mu.
I really want to love this dress but I can't get past the color. It was too close to her skin and made her look sickly, any other color would have been better. See Demi Moore on how to wear colors that match your skin color.

what happened to Macaulay?
Second worst dress of the night. (Not you Zoe I thought yours was kinda fab. Charlize I am talking to you, you are beautiful, sexy woman, we do not need help finding your bosoms, the pink bullseyes were in bad taste.

Good show Cameron Diaz, I love it.

the dude

This is my brother Tristan Bastien Bodisafa Dinosaur Bieber
(the dinosaur he added when he was about 4 now he is 7)
Hands down the best part of my trip was getting to hang out with my siblings. Man I miss those kids each and everyone of them.
This kid was a riot and only slightly annoyed that I kept taking his picture.
I promise to post more about my trip shortly. It just takes a while to get everything together and frankly, I am exhausted. But I am so glad that I went.

photo of the week 18

this is my grandpa's workspace

My whole life I would watch my grandpa fix anything and everything from this spot, you name it he'd fix it or make a better one. He was an engineer, designer, craftsman, Mr. Fix-it, fisherman, scoutmaster, sailor, husband, father, brother, and grandfather who always had a comb in his pocket so that the grandkids (there are 38 of us) could comb his hair while he slept in his giant recliner. You can read more about him here.

home for a day

My grandfather aka G Tidwell is back with his Heavenly Father. I am leaving tomorrow to celebrate his life with my mother and family. It's a quick trip, I'll be back on Saturday just Miss Brooks and me.
I am so glad to know that I will see him again.
