Pumpkin Secrets

I don't believe in secret recipes unless they are trademarked and so I will share with you my favorite addition to Thanksgiving dinner. I made it for the ward Halloween party and took a picture here. I was sworn to secrecy 1o years ago but I am breaking my silence because now I live on the other side of the country and frankly there isn't anything Mrs. Pahler can do about it. Thank you for sharing this with me. Making this with Steph was one my favorite high school memories. I loved it, my family loves it and I want to my friends to enjoy it in their homes as well. So here ya go:

Pumpkin Moose Pie

Crust:
1 box Yellow Cake mix ( with ½ cup set to the side
½ cup melted butter
1 egg

Filling:
3 cups or 1lb 14oz of Pumpkin Pie mix with spices
2 eggs
2/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Topping
½ cup cake mix
¼ sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon
¼ cold butter

Cinnamon whipped cream:
2 cups heavy whipping Cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp-1 tbs Cinnamon (depending on taste)

Set oven to 350 degrees. This will make 1 13x9 pan, or 2 9” pies. (I am pretty sure you can do this with cupcakes too.) Combine crust and press into bottom of greased pans of choice. In a large mixing bowling combine filling and mix until smooth. Pour over crust evenly. Combine topping with a pastry blender (you want it to be crumbly) and sprinkle over the top. Bake for 45 minutes. If making cupcakes I would check it after 20 minutes.

Combine whipped cream ingredients and beat until soft peaks form and dollop on top, I put mine in my cake decorating tube and made pretty stars, but a spoons works just as well and taste just as good.

Enjoy!

I feel so special that I've had this recipe for years. Although I didn't have the whipped topping. Mmm. And I'd love to teach you to crochet scarves or hats. Just come and visit ;)

I'm going to have to make this! Joe loves loves loves pumpkin pie, but I have yet to taste one that I even remotely like. This might just be the one. I sounds yummy! Oh and when you learn to crochet a little girl hat, you need to teach me!
